Kayla Hanson, DVM, DACVECC, cHPV, cVMA, is a board-certified veterinary criticalist, a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian, and Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist. Dr. Hanson graduated from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, completing her rotating internship at Iowa State the following year. She then completed her residency in Emergency and Critical Care at Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists in Wisconsin. Dr. Hanson joined the AERC team in July 2019.
A veterinary criticalist is dedicated to treating life-threatening conditions and traditionally works in an emergency room or intensive care unit. A Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian focuses on providing support and comfort care for a pet’s end-of-life needs, giving pet parents the time they need to prepare to say goodbye. Lastly, a Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist has expertise in the area of acupuncture and integrative medicine.
