Our specialty departments take appointments. Make an appointment for any specialty by calling (651) 501-3766, or by clicking here.

Our emergency service does not require appointments. Instead, much like a human emergency room, patients are seen in the order in which they arrive.

However, our most critical patients are seen first, regardless of the time they arrive. That means that if a very critical case arrives, that animal will receive immediate attention.

Whenever possible, please call to let us know when to expect you. We may be able to facilitate your pet’s doctor visit by preparing paperwork, setting up our treatment area for your pet, or even meeting you at the door to help you carry your animal inside.

The main reasons that AERC may cost more than your family veterinary clinic are that we provide advanced in-house diagnostics in order to get results immediately: laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, and high-field MRI. In addition, we pay our highly-skilled team for working nights, holidays, and weekends when no one else is open.

At Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota, we will inform all pet owners of costs for care prior to care being initiated, so there are no ugly surprises. After your pet’s examination, one of our trained staff will provide you with a treatment plan, including associated costs, for your pet’s individual health plan. At AERC, you are in control of your pet’s treatment.

We accept payment in the form of cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Care Credit, and we also offer an in-house payment plan, called PaymentBanc, for those who qualify. PaymentBanc is not a credit card. It does require a credit recommendation based solely on your Social Security Number; however, the recommendation does not affect your credit score.

If you do not qualify for PaymentBanc, you may also apply for CareCredit, a medical credit card, here at our hospital or at home. The process from application to decision takes only a few minutes. If you apply at home and your application is accepted, please bring the account number, credit limit, and a photo ID to the hospital with you.

Unfortunately, AERC cannot issue refunds for unused medications once the items leave the hospital.
