In 1976, Elm Creek Animal Hospital (ECAH) opened in Champlin. Two years later, they became AAHA-certified! ECAH sees dogs, cats, small mammals (rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, hedgehogs, rats, hamsters, gerbils, and the like), and reptiles (lizards, snakes, and turtles).
In addition to standard wellness care and comprehensive medicine, Elm Creek Animal Hospital also offers routine dental care and more advanced dentistry procedures, including root canals, dental x-rays, and restorations. Imaging modalities include radiology and ultrasound. Pain management is important at ECAH, so they offer therapeutic laser and acupuncture. An in-house laboratory, laser surgery options, and behavior consultations are also utilized for patients as needed.
However, the most special feature of this hospital is their caring and compassionate staff! Many members of their team have worked at the hospital for over ten years. They are all a very strong group of exceptional people who are always striving to fulfill the hospital’s mission of “working together to keep your pets healthy.”
Elm Creek Animal Hospital is co-owned by Dr. Jennifer Blum and Dr. Mey Nevo.
Dr. Blum graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2006. Her professional interests include dentistry, internal medicine, and integrative medicine. She is also certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and provides acupuncture services and therapeutic laser therapy for patients.
Dr. Nevo graduated from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2007. Dr. Nevo’s professional interests include advanced imaging techniques, soft-tissue surgery, and internal medicine. Fun Fact: Dr. Nevo is married to Dr. Shadwick, one of two board-certified veterinary internists here at Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota!
Elm Creek Animal Hospital has three other veterinarians on their team as well: Dr. Richard Reierson, Dr. Brett Duke, and Dr. Jo Croswell. Dr. Richard Reierson is the original owner of Elm Creek Animal Hospital. He still works part-time at ECAH, and his professional interests include surgery, advanced veterinary dentistry, reproduction, dermatology, and reptile medicine.
Dr. Duke graduated in 1996 from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. His professional interests include sports medicine, dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, laser surgery, and small mammal medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Duke and his Border Collies, Trek and Punch, compete at both regional and national agility events. In fact, Dr. Duke has been teaching agility for over twenty years.
In 2014, Dr. Croswell graduated from Michigan State University’s veterinary school. Her professional interests include behavior medicine, internal medicine, and preventative care. She especially enjoys helping pets at both ends of the age spectrum – educating clients about puppy training as well as keeping pets healthy through their golden years.
The health and well-being of every patient is very important to all of the staff and doctors at Elm Creek Animal Hospital, and they take every possible measure to give their patients the care they deserve.
