Dr. Alex Molldrem knew from childhood that he wanted to be a veterinarian. Growing up he had a variety of pets, mainly cats and dogs, with an occasional reptile.

He completed his undergrad at Luther College in Decorah, IA, where he also enjoyed fly-fishing and mountain biking. He went on to University of Wisconsin, Madison to obtain his degree in Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife welcomed home their first pet (a black and white cat named Cleo) the day after returning from their honeymoon.

Dr. Molldrem worked in small animal general practice for three years, especially enjoying dentistry and ultrasound. Always having an interest in critical care and emergency medicine, Dr. Molldrem began working at Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota as an emergency veterinarian in 2005 and truly loves his work.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and kids.  Reading, hiking, biking, and home projects are some of his favorite pasttimes.
