Dentistry Technician

Heidi is a graduate of Globe University and is a Certified Veterinary Technician. Heidi developed a passion for small animal dentistry while working in private practice.  She then went on to work for the University of Minnesota in their Dentistry service. Heidi joined the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota in 2015. In 2018, Heidi earned her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Dentistry, adding her name to the very short, prestigious list of technicians who hold this specialty certification nationwide.

Heidi’s professional interests include the following:

  • Pet owner education is a priority to Heidi. She enjoys teaching owners about their pet’s oral health and the importance of at-home dental care.
  • Assisting with endodontic procedures such as root canal therapy and vital pulp therapy which can directly help save a pet’s tooth that may have otherwise been extracted.
  • Teaching fellow Certified Veterinary Technicians tips and tricks for dental radiology and charting.

Heidi’s personal pets include a Pug named Griffin, a Pit Bull rescue named Harriet, and fish named Fish-stick. In her spare time Heidi enjoys reading, crafting, camping, and cooking. In the summer, she can often be found with her husband and daughter exploring Minnesota in their 1968 Volkswagen Bus.
