Dr. Ally Thell earned her degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Minnesota; while she attended school, she worked at AERC as a member of our triage team. Upon graduation, she moved to Portland, Oregon for a small animal rotating internship at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists. In 2015, Ally returned to AERC as an emergency veterinarian. Beyond emergency and critical care, her professional interests include internal medicine, nutrition and dentistry.

Prior to veterinary school, she earned a B.S. in marine biology from the University of California Santa Cruz. Following graduation, she worked as a technician’s assistant at a general practice veterinary clinic providing care for dogs, cats and exotic pets. In her free time, she volunteered to care for leopard sharks, California sea lions, Northern elephant seals and harbor seals!

Outside of work, Ally enjoys spending time with family, painting, cooking and traveling to locations with excellent snorkeling. She frequents dog parks with her trusty black Labrador named Dexter, so named due to his infamous reputation with the local squirrel population.
