Pets on the Mend (POM) is AERC’s charitable fund under the 501(c)(3) Veterinary Care Foundation. POM was established to provide monetary assistance to pets being treated at Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC) for life-threatening health ailments or injuries. In order to be eligible for POM funds, the patient must have a good or excellent prognosis, i.e. he or she is probably going to recover from their ailment or injury and get better.
POM is not intended to pay all of the patient’s expenses as this level of funding is usually not available. Instead, Pets On the Mend is designed to pay for a portion of the animal’s care, thus prolonging the life of the pet and easing the financial burden of the pet owner.
