Management of oral tumors depends on recognition, accurate diagnosis, and the knowledge needed to manage or refer patients effectively. This lecture will review benign and malignant tumors in dogs and cats and include current nomenclature. We will review use of diagnostic tools including radiographs and biopsy techniques for the general practitioner as well as the appropriate use of advanced imaging. You will learn simple and effective biopsy techniques using instrumentation readily available in general practice. In addition, we will review staging, prognosis, and treatment options for common oral tumors.
