We hold free lunch time and evening community education events for members of the veterinary community every month of the year. Programs are posted as soon as the seminars are scheduled, so check back often!

Dental Nerve Block Seminar and Wetlab

January 18, 2018


A half-hour presentation and one-hour hands-on wet lab format regarding the use of regional nerve blocks during oral surgery. Topics covered include: indications for oral regional nerve blocks, anesthetic agent and dosages, anatomical location of regional nerve blocks, and required equipment and materials. One-hour wetlab to practice techniques after lecture.

Elizabeth Brine, DVM, DAVDC, and Erin Vicari, VMD, DAVDC will be your instructors for this event.

Laurel Bird, CVT, VTS (Dentistry) and Heidi Olivier, CVT, will be assisting with this seminar and wet lab. Laurel has authored the chapter on dental radiology in Small Animal Dental Procedures for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses, lectured on veterinary dentistry techniques from dental prophylaxis to advanced procedures to radiology around the country at national and state conferences and at individual clinics. Heidi is applying to take the test to attain her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Dentistry!

Date: Thursday, January 18th, 2018 at 8:30a.m.-10:00a.m. (1 DVM and 1 tech per practice is encouraged), 10:30a.m.-12:00p.m. (1 DVM and 1 tech per practice is encouraged), OR 1:00p.m.-2:30p.m. (1 DVM and 1 tech per practice is encouraged) 
Cost: $10 donation to Pets on The Mend – Cost of this course is generously sponsored by Schein.

Space is very limited as we are only accepting eight people per 1.5 hour session. Sessions are from 8:30-10am, 12:30-noon, and 1:00pm-2:30pm. One DVM and one technician per practice is encouraged but not required for all sessions.  The seminar includes opportunities for skill improvement for all.
