AERC Fall Conference for Practice Managers

8:00am-4:00pm

November 11, 2017

This year, our Fall CE will held at our Oakdale clinic and will be separated into three days. On November 4th, 2017, we will have the Technician Track. On November 11th, 2017, we will have the Practice Manager Track. On November 12th, 2017, we will have the Veterinarian Track. Each track will have four speakers. Six CE credits are currently pending with the MN Board of Veterinary Medicine (also good in Wisconsin).  A continental breakfast and lunch are also provided.

Attendees are welcome to register for multiple tracks. We encourage you to register right away! Since seats are limited, we cannot accept walk-in registrations on the day of the event.

Practice Manager Track lectures are as follows:

I Can't Say That by Darren Osborne, Masters of Economics, Ontario Veterinary Medical Association Using a role-playing format, participants are given instruction and the opportunity to practice talking to pretend clients so they can improve their communication skills. Topics covered include how to show value, how to deliver fees prior to treatment, how to respond to a phone shopper, and a quick and dirty voice mail message.

Kill 'Em with Kindness: Handling Client Complaints by Lisa Hart, Client Service Manager, AERC In this lecture, you'll learn how to document client complaints, determining the most appropriate person to address a complaint, scripts for how to say "no" to clients with compassion, information on how and when to fire a client, and motivating positive change in the veterinary team via client complaints.

Team Appreciation: Above and Beyond Pizza by Jayde Quigley, MBA, CVT, CVPM, Chief Operations Officer, AERC We're known for appreciating our veterinary professionals with food in this business, but what if they're overworked and also sick of pizza?! How do you know if your team is burnt-out or in need of appreciation? Learn how to tell, as well as determining the most appropriate way to show them they're appreciated. Low-cost and innovative ideas for team appreciation gifts and events will also be shared.

Your Crowning Achievement: A Better Pregnancy Policy by Leah Wilson, CVT, Human Resources Manager, AERC This session will provide guidance and information on requirements and restrictions for pregnant workers, confidentiality issues, options and requirements for leave, FMLA, and accommodations for working and breastfeeding mothers.
