Steve Shadwick, DVM, DACVIM, attended University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. He also worked at University of Tennessee in a rotating internship with after-hours emergency duty, and he did a Masters along with his residency at the University of Illinois. He graduated in August 2011, and began working at AERC as the head of our Internal Medicine Department. At the end of 2012, Dr. Shadwick accepted a position as Chief Medical Officer, supporting our Hospital Director, Dr. Karen Reynhout, in her duties. He became a Board-Certified Internist in March of 2013.
Steve has a strong interest in gastrointestinal, pancreas, and liver disease. Additionally, Steve enjoys the challenges of diagnosing and treating patients with many types of auto-immune, endocrine, renal and respiratory diseases. Steve is skilled at gastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, and bronchoscopy. He also heads our I-131 Treatment Facility for Hyperthyroid Cats. The facility is unlike any other in the Midwest!
Steve got married in April 2011, and he enjoys falconry, salt-water aquaria, motorcycles, hiking and cooking!
