"We continue to be so thankful that you saved Sterling after he ingested a full bottle of Celebrex. You are all amazing -- from the super vets to the wonderful, kind vet techs that sat with Sterling in their laps during that long week. We still love him so much, and appreciate daily that we have him. He is still naughty about eating things -- last week he finished off my son's birthday cake. Amazing he has no residuals from his pill-taking experience! So many thanks!"

Michelle
Technician Coordinator
Michelle, a Certified Veterinary Technician, joined the Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota team in 2001. She is a member of VMAT-2, a highly trained team of over 50 veterinary professionals that provide veterinary medical treatment in natural, man-made, or any other type of disasters. Michelle is also a member of NVRT-2. The NVRT are highly trained teams composed of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, toxicologists and other medical and lay support personnel. They can deploy within 12-24 hours to a disaster area and are self sufficient for 72 hours.
In addition to experience with domestic animals, Michelle has exotics, wildlife, and zoo experience. She completed an internship with Disney's Animal Kingdom and spent 5 years working at Veterinary Hospital that specialized in the treatment and care of exotics. She is very interested in wildlife rehabilitation, conservation efforts in Madagascar for lemurs, and in 2006 she passed her AVECCT certification, a nationally-recognized certification in veterinary technician emergency and critical care. Michelle's tremendous skills and passion for teaching made her an ideal candidate for Technician Coordinator, a leadership role at AERC which involves training, creating protocols, and peer reviews.
Michelle won the coveted title of NAVTA Technician of the Year for 2011! Michelle was very surprised and pleased to receive the news. We know firsthand how great and talented Michelle is, so it didn't surprise her teammates at all! Congratulations, Michelle!
In her spare time away from AERC, Michelle enjoys yoga, reading, making jewelry, and dancing. She owns nine pets total: four dogs, four cats, a frog, and fish!
