Yia began working for AERC in August of 2015. He first began working in emergency medicine in 2012 as a veterinary technicians' assistant. He decided to become a technician himself, and graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2013 from San Juan Valley College in California.
Yia grew up with a variety of different animals, including dogs, pigeons, ducks, guinea pigs, and exotic fish. Currently, he owns five different types of tarantulas with the following fabulous names: Versicolor Pink Toe, Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird-Eater, Green Bottle Blue, Fireleg, and Metallica Pink Toe!
He enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, playing all kinds of sports and exercising.
